Starting year 11

If you are starting Year 11 you and your parents/caregivers will have already made an important decision about whether to continue your education. However, you need more than the encouragement of your parents or caregivers and teachers to succeed in Year 11. To succeed, you need to accept responsibility for your own education. Self-motivation is vital in Year 11.You start to prepare for your HSC in Year 11 so it's important to get settled into a good study routine at the beginning of the year. Homework and study requirements will increase markedly in Year 11 and even more so in Year 12. The amount and quality of effort will be directly reflected through HSC achievement outcomes. However, studying doesn't have to be a drag. If you have some sound study strategies and time management skills you'll find it easier to manage your homework.

Huge storm bears down on nz

New Zealanders are being advised to batten down the hatches and stay away from the beaches as a huge storm bears down on the country. The wild weather is expected to bring extreme conditions over the next 48 hours, including gale force winds, heavy rain and bitterly cold temperatures. The same weather system is already causing major problems in Tasmania with thousands of homes left without power as strong winds, snow and surf batter the state. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that Tasmanians were experiencing their coldest day in decades.A severe wind warning is already in force for Wellington, Wairarapa and the Marlborough Sounds and there was a possibility there could be severe gales for a time tomorrow in other areas of the North Island, Marlborough and also north Canterbury.

Induction

Induction is when the teacher or someone showing you what to do and welcoming you into there school or work place. We had three principals come and talk to us about what there schools do about induction and if it is important to have a induction program.I think personally that we dont really need and induction program because some students dont like being introduced in front of the whole class.I know that i wouldn't want to be in the situation when everyone is looking at you so that is the reason why i dont think we should have and induction program. But that is just my personal comment on that and I would like to thank girls high and Pukete primary schools principals for coming and talking to us and we have learnt alot from what use told us about and that i know now what induction means

Christchurch earthquake

Rubberneckers are being told to stay away from quake-stricken Kaiapoi and Pines Beach, as stressed residents complain of feeling like a freak show.Residents are getting really irritated with the number of people coming to inspect the damage in the centre of Kaiapoi town and in residential areas," said Waimakariri District Council chief executive Jim Palmer. Some have told us they are tired of being treated like a freak show, and we are urging rubberneckers to simply stay away.

Two schools that opened today

There was a handful of schools that opened back up yesterday and there are two more that have opened up today and they are Belfast School and Kaia poi High. But the 158 other schools and going to reopen on Monday they are hoping.Parents are being advised to check the Ministry of Education website for information on individual schools. But if the schools are not safe it will on be reopened to stuff so the kids willnt be hurt or killed so they are thinking about not reopening some schools that might cause a problem.
