If you get cyber-bulled

If you receive threats that hurt you on your social page you can tell your parents to help you and they can get the police. If you get the police into it you will need to take a screenshot of the threats as evidence to your local police station. To take a screen shot make sure the threatening comments can be seen then press print scan. Most social networking sites have terms and conditions which prohibit bullying and other abusive behaviours including harassment, impersonation, identity theft and more. If you want to make a complaint, it is helpful to copy the terms and conditions which have been breached and also to add screenshots as evidence. Ways to report bullying abuse or harassment to Facebook, MySpace and Bebo, are listed below:

Text bulling

Text bullying happens when someone is mean to you by text. Text bully messages might be rude, scary, mean, or just something weird that makes you feel a bit gross or uncomfortable or even mad. It hurts to know that people around the world do this to people just to scary or do what ever it is really mean and nasty.people often write things in a text that they wouldn’t say to someones face. That’s because they think that no one will be able to tell who they are and that they won’t get caught if they use their phone to be mean. In actual fact, everything you send on your phone can be traced back to you. That’s why it’s a good idea to never send a text that you wouldn’t want an adult, like your parents or your teacher, to see.
Always tell an adult that you trust like a parent or teacher. If you‘ve been text bullied it‘s important to remember that it’s not your fault. Anyone can be a target of text bullying. However, it can still be very upsetting to be bullied by text and sometimes it can be very scary.

Cyber-safety (Cyber-bulling)

Cyberbullying is the use of e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, pagers, cell phones, or other forms of information technology to deliberately harass, threaten, or intimidate someone. Cyberbullying is often done by children, who have increasing access to these technologies. However, it is by no means confined to children. The problem is compounded by the fact that a bully can hide behind an electronic veil, disguising his or her true identity. This makes it difficult to trace the source, and encourages bullies to behave more aggressively than they might face-to-face.
Cyberbullying can include such acts as making threats, sending provocative insults or racial or ethnic slurs, gay bashing, attempting to infect the victim's computer with a virus, and flooding an e-mail inbox with nonsense messages. If you are a victim, you can deal with cyberbullying to some extent by limiting computer connection time (not being always on), not responding to threatening or defamatory messages, and never opening e-mail messages from sources you do not recognize. More active measures include the blacklisting or whitelisting of e-mail accounts, changing e-mail addresses, changing ISPs, changing cell phone accounts, and attempting to trace the source. In some cases, it may be advisable to inform the local police department or consult an attorney. It is not recommended that you retaliate in kind because such behavior can lead to civil actions or criminal charges against you.

Maori parents fail in bid to get child back

The biological parents of a two-year-old girl have lost a legal battle to have their daughter raised in a Maori family. The birth mother gave her daughter, of Maori and Cook Island Maori descent, to a Pakeha couple when she was just hours old but later changed her mind and began a legal challenge to take back the girl, The Dominion Post reported today. The biological father wanted the girl brought up in her own culture, but the High Court this week ruled in favour of the care couple. They were granted primary care but must ensure the girl has continuing contact with her birth family and raise her to know her Maori roots.Justice Warwick Gendall said the arrangement was not necessarily permanent.

The magnificent bull

Today we also look at another poem but it is called THE MAGNIFICENT BULL we had to look if there were any similes or metephors.

THE MAGNIFICENT BULL

My bull is white like the silver fish in the river
White like the shimmering crane bird on the river bank
White like fresh milk!
His roar is like the thunder to the Turkish cannon on the steep shore
My bull is dark like the raincloud in the storm.
He is like summer and winter
Half of him is dark like the storm cloud,
Half of him is light like sunshine.
His back shines like morning star.
His brow is red like beak of the hornbill
His forehead is a flag, calling the people from a distance,
He resembles the rainbow.

I will water him at the river,
With my spear i shall drive my enemies.
Let let them water their herds at the well;
The river belongs to me and my bull.
Drink, my bull, from the river; i am here
To guard you with my spear.

Rain

Today we were looking at a poem called Hone Twhares Rain and we had to identify the poetic devices used in a narrative and here it is.

HONE TWHARES RAIN

RAIN
I can hear you making small holes in silence rain
If i were deaf the pores of my skin would open to you and shut
And I should know you by the lick of you if I were blind
The something special smell of you when the sun cakes the ground
The steady drum-roll sound you make when the wind drops
but if I should not hear smell or feel or see you
You would still define me disperse me wash over me rain

Mt hutt skifield (closed down)

High winds have closed Mt Hutt skifield today and 900 people are stranded on the mountain.Ski field manager Dave Wilson said the field was closed shortly after noon because of the conditions and driving down the access road was not an option due to poor visibility. But everyone was safely inside and he hoped the weather would improve enough to allow people to drive down.If the weather did not improve people would have to stay on the mountain overnight. The early closure is just another niggle in Mt Hutt's winter ski season, which has been blighted by accidents.Three skiers have been killed and one seriously injured in accidents since the season opened in July.

Chewing off his diseased big toe

Today i was reading about this man that has credited his dog with saving his life by chewing off his diseased big toe as he lay passed out in a drunken stupor.Jerry Douthett 48 years old of Michigan in the United States, woke up in his home on a Saturday night in late July to find his Jack Russell Terrier, Kiko, had gnawed off his right big toe.The dog always lays with me on the bed,Mr Douthett said. That night, I woke up and looked down at my foot, and it was wet. When I looked there was blood, and there was the dog looking at me with a blood moustache.Mr Douthett's wife, Rosee, rushed him to hospital, where doctors found he was suffering from Type 2 diabetes. His toe was badly infected and surgeons amputated the remainder of the digit.
